Staff Diving Day

 So the team at the Dive Shop thought it was about time for some of our new local staff to experience diving for a day with a Discover Scuba Dive session. Dennis and Martin took Klay, Mao, Ruun, Sung, Knee and Puihg into confined for some basic skills. Klay and Mao, our boat captains have been diving before and enjoyed getting back into the water with their fellow colleagues.

Our ocean needs a helping hand - Reef & Beach clean-up day

Our Reef & Beach clean-up day was a big success! In the first place, the Dive Shop's staff members did a dive to clean up the pier as well as the shallow water just off the beach. We used baskets the divers filled up with rubbish and the non-divers pulled the things up the pier to bag it for transport to Sihanoukville.

Afterwards we gathered some of the villagers from Koh Tui village to help making our beach a better place. Also Gabi's kids taking the Dive Shop's English classes helped us a lot. It was really good fun!

We collected around 200 kg of rubbish diving plus another 250 to 300 kg on the beach. Marine debris which gets washed onto the beach would have gone back into the ocean at the next high tide.

We would like to say 'Akun chirern - Thank you' to all the great people who supported our efforts to make Koh Rong island a better place!

Welcome Melissa

The Dive Shop's team welcomes Melissa from Washington DC, our new Divemaster, to our team.

Melissa did her PADI Divemaster training with Utila Dive Centre in Utila/Honduras and is an avid diver since she was 19 years of age. She is very interested in conservation work so we welcomed her with a reef- and beach clean-up day. She will begin her Masters degree in Marine Affairs with a concentration in Marine Ecosystem-Based Management at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA this September.

"I love diving because it opens your world to both travel and underwater beauty. For me, there is nothing more relaxing than effortlessly moving along the reef, with the sound of only your breathing and the crackles of fish feeding on coral."

Beach & Reef Clean Up Day

Everybody at The Dive Shop is busy tonight in the office getting ready for our beach cleanup day tomorrow!


Gaby, our new English teacher, together with our Instructor Giorgio and all other available Dive Shop staff members will host underwater cleanup dives around Koh Rong island! Volunteers are welcome, just contact any of our staff members wearing a sexy "The Dive Shop Cambodia" t-shirt! We will charge a small fee of $10 to cover costs from any volunteer. After the cleanup we will celebrate our efforts together with a hard earned drink at Monkey Island.
