Underwater clean up at the buddha reef divesite

Recently, our Instructors found a lost fishing net which drifted on to our dive site 'Buddha Reef' off the coast of Koh Rong island. The net was entangled on the reef and many fish were already caught in the net.

Thanks to our Instructors Eric, Max and our marine biologist and dive master Claire as well as Katie our English teacher, the net was successfully removed.

A scientific collaboration between The Dive Shop and the Technical University of Berlin

The Dive Shop welcomes Max Liebau from The Technical University of Berlin. Max, originally from Hamburg, Germany, is here in Cambodia to study and research nudibranchs in different coral reef sections. His 6 week survey around the Koh Rong area will include examining the environmental surroundings and conditions, whilst obeying the strict rules for ecological working and care on organisms in coral reef sections and not disturbing the ecosystem as it is. Max will take samples of the surrounding conditions and locations of the nudibranchs to collaborate for his Bachelor Thesis. Once the thesis has been published, we will present the final paper on our facebook account. The Dive Shop is very much looking forward to Max's final presentation, to find out more about the weird and wonderful nudibranchs and their surrounding habitats.

Welcome Giorgio & Jacques

We say a warm 'welcome to the Team' to two new Dive Instructors.

Giorgio completed his Dive Master training with us on Koh Rong Island in back in 2009, after leaving us he continued scuba diving around the globe, completing his instructors in Bali. He is a very experienced Underwater Photographer and we are expecting some great  pictures. Escaping the cold weather of Milan, Italy, he is now back working for us as an Instructor.

Originally from Cape Town in South Africa, Jacques (Jack) is joining our ever growing Team. Coming from Bali after recently completing his Instructor course, Jacques is eager to get back into the water and continue teaching.

Welcome (back) to Cambodia!

Our new Dive Shop resort on Koh Rong Samloem

After the success of our dive shop on Koh Rong Island for four years running, The Dive Shop is now extending to the neighboring Island of Koh Rong Samloem. This beautiful sister Island is perfect if you want a real piece of paradise away from the hustle and bustle of Sihanoukville. Our beach is located next to the well known Lazy Beach, with 450 metres of secluded white sand for our new dive resort. We will have our bungalows and restaurant up and running within three months, as building work has already begun.

We have already begun to explore the new dive sites on and around the site, and found many great locations with rich marine life and a huge variety of coral reef. We are looking forward to taking our first guests out to enjoy the new sites and discover our new paradise!

A new Dive Master for the Dive Shop team

The Dive Shops newest member of the team, Clare, joins us as a Dive Master for the new year. Originally from Devon in the South of England, Clare has been working alongside the Dive Shop the last five months with Coral Cay Conservation as their Science Officer. With her passion and career stemming from Marine Biology she makes a brilliant diver and surprises even our most experienced customers with her knowledge of the obscure corals and life Koh Rong has to offer under the sea.
