Sunset at the Robinson Bungalow Beach

Here is a great set of pictures taken by one of our guests, Armin Goudarzi at Sunset Beach near Robinson Bungalows!

A fabulous shot of one of the longtail boats local fishermen use.

The nightdivers are getting ready for their dive just off our beach. There are many nocturnal creatures such as octopuses, stingrays and squid who make their homes on the reef just next to our beach.

Thanks a lot to Armin Goudarzi for taking these stunning pictures.

Tall fin batfish (Platax teira) seen at Koh Koun island on a daytrip!

The island of Koh Koun offers some of the best dive sites reachable from Sihanoukville on a daytrip. At the western side nearby the dive site Corner Bar, we often spot a large school of tall fin batfish (Platax teira).

Most of the time the animals are coming very close to divers, seeming amlost interested in what strange animal is diving around their reefs.

They are a favourite with divers because of their curious nature, individuals regularly approach divers closely even following them.

They are either solitary, in pairs or a group, sometimes seen in special friendship with a turtle.

Juveniles are often boomerang shaped and some species have elaborate markings to mimic something else.

PADI Self-Reliant Diver

We are proud to be the first and only Divecenter in Cambodia teaching the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Distinctive Specialty course!

The PADI Self-Reliant Diver course is a new PADI distinctive specialty that aims to recognise and accept the role of the buddy system and its contributions to diver safety while identifying and developing self-reliance and independence while diving.

There are two reasons for an experienced diver to take the Self-Reliant diver course: To develop the skills of planning and carrying out dives without a partner when preferred or necessary and to sharpen skills of diving self-reliance, making the diver a stronger partner in a dive pair or team.

Welcome to the team Adam

We also welcome our new Divemaster Adam. Born on the east coast of Australia, upon completing the PADI Open Water in 2002 at the age of 13, he then worked part-time from the age of 15 in a scuba service center. After 4 years with much experience but no real certifications he flew to Thailand in 2008 were he completed the A.S.S.E.T (Association of Scuba Service Engineer & Technicians) in Compressors, gas blending, regulator service, hydrostatic testing and visual inspection. For the next 5 years he worked on Koh Tao in Thailand as head of servicing and as a PADI Divemaster.

"When I was living in Australia, most of the diving I did was to catch something to eat such as scallops and clayfish. By now, I appreciate to dive just for the pleasure of enjoying the underwater world."

Welcome to the team Aaron and Matteo

Ready for the move from Koh Rong to our new shop at the sunset beach on Koh Rong Sanloen we have two new PADI instructors joining the dive shop's team.

Aaron, our new French instructor, who started diving around 6 years ago in the Forra Dive Center at Koh Lipe in Thailand. After this he traveled Asia for a while and dived in most of the sea around. He started his professional diving career 2 years ago as a PADI dive master in the Philippines.

"I'm born in front of the sea in France, and I can't leave far from it! I think i can say that I'm a son of the Big Blue. I traveled since I'm 20 years old, and the Dive Life Style became my life. I like to share my hobbies and talk of dive storys in front of the sea, on a boat with other travelers and divers! I arrived here in April, and wouahouh....! I felt in love with the Cambodian islands, the place is beautiful... Koh Rong Sanloen is a truly paradise island, we conduct interesting dives and the team is amazing. By now, Cambodia became my second home!"

Matteo, our Italian instructor started diving when he was 15 years old with his father in Turin. He did most of his dives in Italy, Sardinia, Puglia and Liguria. His fist diving trip destination was the Red Sea in 2009. Afterwards, in 2012 he became a Divemaster and started his career with PADI.

"I'm born in a place close to Turin, I have been traveling since I was 17 years old and I know many people all around the word but just this year I started to travel and did the instructor course and meet divers from many places. I arrived in Cambodia just a couple of days ago so I haven't had time to discover the undersea world of this beautiful country yet. But I'm here for this."

Awesome Graffiti

Several artists have been helping to make our old office colorful again! Here is my personal favorite, a diver rescuing a pretty girl. :)

Thanks a lot to the artist PSHE from Russia who has sprayed it in just a couple of hours!
